Bonne Nuit, Les Vignes

www.farella.com

FrostyGood Night, vines.  Rest up, now.

It's been awhile that I've had the time to post, with harvest and all.  It's been a long, late one, as you may have heard here or elsewhere.  Now the question becomes "how was it?".  In a word, great.  The longer answer involves stories of dread and worry that we would never get it all in before the rain.  With my grower hat on (we sell 85% of our fruit), I was truly worried that some of the various blocks simply wouldn't make it and there is no safety net for fresh fruit on the vine.  As a winemaker, I was excited to get things going and explore the potential of this very late season with the desired slow maturation and, in the end, great harvest season conditions.

ClutterHere's a shot of what the winery looked like last week which may help explain the lack of postings of late...

There's just so much to say and share about the harvest and I have more coming, but I thought that I should post something to get it started.  The Holidays are upon us and, with any luck, many of you are filling out your orders right now and we can sustain our plan of direct contact with our customers.  It's always a great time to visit and see/taste for yourself.

Cheers!
